Much of my visual design work has been shaped by an ongoing relationship with Modern Times, where I’ve created everything from packaging and merchandise to signage, menus, and digital collateral. My approach prioritizes clarity, character, and usability—design that not only looks good, but functions well in real spaces. This collection reflects a deep familiarity with brand systems and a hands-on understanding of how design supports hospitality, retail, and identity across formats.

I was tasked with developing a 12 oz can design for the newest pasteurized cold brew blend by Modern Times. It had to be striking and easily distinguishable from their core lineup, while also standing apart from other shelf-stable cold brews in a grocery aisle. We ultimately chose a symmetrical design that features black and a gold that pops to complement the gold base can color.

Modern Times Summer Glassware

With the lead up to opening two new Modern Times locations in 2025, I designed glassware for each location. For both designs I wanted them fully outlined and using a single color, so that when the glass is filled you’d see the design in its entirety. Both feature hand-drawn artwork.

Modern Times Taproom Tote

This piece needed to reflect both utility and identity. The design leans on symmetry, type hierarchy, and iconography that invites curiosity. It functions as a walking brand statement without being overly promotional.

Project Steeped — Modern Time Coffee

For the Steeped Coffee line, I created two distinct approaches that still feel unmistakably Modern Times. The dark roast design shifts to a more grounded palette with minimal accents, leaning into the brand’s geometric language to emphasize richness and depth. The bright version brings high-energy color and confident contrast to the single-serve shelf—playful yet precise in its layout. Together, they strike a balance between clarity, character, and family cohesion.

Shadow Party Dark Roast Concentrate Pouch — photo

For the Barrel-Aged Cold Brew Concentrate label, I used warm amber tones and deco geometry to reflect the richness of barrel-aging. The Shadow Party Dark Roast flips the palette to cool blues and golds, emphasizing depth and contrast. Together, they form a cohesive duo that highlights Modern Times’ blend of craft, character, and playfulness.

Modern Times Coffee Sales Box

This kit was created as a compact introduction to the brand. The structure needed to travel well and present well, so I designed with durability, visual clarity, and brand storytelling in mind. It sets the tone for Modern Times Coffee before the first sip.
