The can design for Fruited Orderville was an exciting project because it was the inaugral beer for the grand opening of Timestead, Modern Times' newest taproom in San Diego. The theme for this location was going to be focused on retro space exploration, so I wanted to do something that pulled from that but also called back to the pop-art/collage style can design legacy Modern Times is known for.

TIMESTEAD LOGO

The Timestead logo combines retro-futurism with a touch of swagger. Its custom letterforms balance sharp edges and smooth curves, while the star accents nod to mid-century sci-fi aesthetics. The result is a mark that feels confident, cinematic, and unmistakably Modern Times.

Taproom Tote

This piece needed to reflect both utility and identity. The design leans on symmetry, type hierarchy, and iconography that invites curiosity. It functions as a walking brand statement without being overly promotional.

MT CLOCK SIGN

The neon clock light outside Timestead translates the brand into a physical, architectural mark. Drawing from mid-century signage and retro-futurist iconography, the design centers on a custom clock face that feels equal parts lounge, landmark, and beacon. The bold geometry, star details, and illuminated numerals give it a sense of motion and permanence, while the Modern Times monogram anchors it firmly in the brand world. Designed to read clearly day or night, the piece functions as both wayfinding and atmosphere.

DAYWAVE LOGO

Daywave is a coffee and vinyl concept built inside Timestead in downtown San Diego. The visual identity pulls from retro futurism, analog music culture, and warm café aesthetics to create something that feels equal parts neighborhood coffee counter and late-night listening lounge. The system was designed to stay highly flexible across packaging, menus, signage, merchandise, and social while still feeling tactile, clean, and immediately recognizable.

The Timestead glass extends the brand into an everyday object designed to be noticed up close. The wraparound illustration pulls from the same retro-futurist language as the space, layering planets, stars, and orbital forms around a bold Timestead wordmark. The dense pattern rewards repeat use while still reading clearly across the bar or in hand. Built to feel playful without becoming novelty, the glass reinforces Timestead’s identity as something immersive, cohesive, and thoughtfully designed down to the details.

VINYL SLIPMAT DESIGN

For Black Friday 2025, Modern Times ran a promotion at all taprooms on their vinyl records and wanted a new merch item that complimented this. I pitched the idea for a vinyl slip mat that would be quick and cost effective to produce, then designed an eye catching mandela style graphic using 2 colors. The final design stand outs and serves as a solid statement piece for any vinyl head.

The Chronos Hall logo channels grand-scale energy with bold, architectural letterforms and heavy shadowing that suggest depth and presence. Its vintage-inspired geometry nods to mid-century signage and timeless hospitality design. The result feels monumental yet welcoming—fitting for Modern Times’ largest and most versatile event space.

I handled layout, visual polish, and reusable modules so the site stays consistent as content changes, with mobile-first details that hold up in real-world use.
